Buddy's Day Run and Show N Shine

As has become the tradition of CMC and its members 019 is holding a special charity Show and Shine. This day will have a special procession ride for a very deserving young man and his father. There will be an amazing barbeque, door prizes, 50/50 draw, and live entertainment. Awards to the winning bikes and fun for all. Most importantly a young man will get to have a dream day. Let me explain.
As a social service worker I have had the honor of meeting a young gentleman who has taught me the meaning of perseverance and courage. Mark has battled numerous cancers since the age of seven. At seven he was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and given a year to live. Mark met a doctor that said he could operate but there was only a 30% chance of survival. He made it. Since then cancer and other complications keep terrorizing Mark, yet he will not give in and fights every day. Lately the doctors found another tumor behind his ear. Mark's only friend and companion is he's dad, who lives in a different wing of Humber Heights. They do get together daily yet Mark is alone most evenings and nights. He is confined to a wheelchair, blind and mostly deaf. At 43 years old he is frail and looks much younger.
Mark has dreamed, all his life, to own a Harley yet eventually he lost that dream in his early teens. He now lives his Harley Life vicariously through numerous tattoos, models, posters and movies. He can often be seen sitting in his chair sporting a Harley T-shirt or in bed covered up with his Harley blanket.

Mark fights every day to conquer his afflictions. He attempts weight training and physic. Mark has never solicited pity, just friendship when possible. Mark plays poker, I hold the cards close to his eyes and tell him what he has. He is really quite good.
This run will see Mark get his Harley ride, be made a member of CMC (Vest and Madision included) as well as pay tribute to his long standing supporter and best friend, George is dedicated 88 year old father.
Please make this run and event part of your riding itinerary. We have been blessed with opportunity to ride and share our lifestyle. Part of that lifestyle has always been extending true biker compassion for the marginalized and needy. All proceeds and contributions will go to The village of Humber Heights where Mark resides and is cared for. This home is an amazing place filled with caring and compassionate staff. They really are under funded in the recreation department and would truly appreciate all we can do. Also a donation will be made to the Cancer Society in honour of Mark.
