Papa Joe Ride for Cancer
NORTH BAY, ON— Leo Vaillancourt, owner of True Centre has been a sponsor since the beginning of Papa Joe’s Ride. “I have had a lot of cancer in my family and I want to do my part to help.” Seven years ago, Leo’s brother and business partner since 1979, Danny, passed away from pancreatic cancer. He recently lost his mother to pancreatic cancer and his brother Flo has been fighting pancreatic cancer for two and a half years. He is now gravely ill.
“It’s been tough. My family has suffered a lot of loss. I used to do an event on my own to raise a few funds for cancer and then I was approached by the Lefebvre Family and it was a great fit. It’s an event with a lot of impact. It feels good to be involved with the ride as a sponsor and do what I can to help,” says Leo.
The 19th annual Papa Joe’s Memorial Ride for Cancer is set to take place on Saturday, May 25th. The ride is a day-long motorcycle journey from North Bay to Mattawa and back. The event is followed by a dinner, auction and entertainment that lasts late into the evening.
“This event is about unity, it’s about the riders,” explains Diana Lefebvre, event co-founder. “As much as it’s about the Lefebvre family, we have a group of friends and sponsors who have been with us since the beginning. We are a family; we are doing something good for our community, and that’s what it is all about.”
“We’re anticipating a great turnout. Riders will register and depart from the Metro Foods parking lot. When we return from Mattawa the evening’s festivities will be held at Grannittis Restorante,” Lefebvre explains.
Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Metro Foods parking lot, 390 Lakeshore Drive. Registration is $30.00 per rider, which includes your registration fee, a memorial patch, the great bikers beach BBQ, hog roast and buffet and first-class entertainment from Jake Thomas & the Fundamentals, Dig Newton, Jesse Thomas and Sab. Participants who raise over $60.00 receive free entrance.
The event would not have been possible without the generous support of proud sponsors like Tremblay Chev Pont Buick GMC, Trucks INC. Sturgeon Falls, U-Need A Cab 497-7777, Moose FM 106.3 and True Centre Muffler & Brakes.
Rev your engines and join over 400 motorcyclists on the ride of their lives for the 19th Annual Papa Joe Memorial Ride for Cancer.
