Ontario Motorcycle Rides
5th Annual Narin Optimist Canada Day Motorcycle Cruise
by Ed Stevens
Who: Optimist Club of East Williams.
What: A 250 km motorcycle charity ride through rural paved roads in support of the Bravery Bead Program at Children's Hospital of Western Ontario. Find the three rest-stops to collect lettered beads, spell the prize-word with your beads for a prize and enjoy a bar-b-cued rib dinner back at the Optimist Park.
When: Monday July 1 2013, Canada Day, with registration starting at 11:00 am. Participants travel on their own time.
Where: Starting at Nairn Optimist Park, 5 km south of Ailsa Craig, 20 minutes north west of London Ontario, the route will take you south on paved rural roads through Middlesex, Lambton and Kent Counties, to Lake Erie and back.
Why: Bravery Beads, each one specific to a therapy treatment originally given to children with cancer, are symbols of courage in their battle with a disease they must defeat. Now given to all children admitted to the hospital, thanks to the Optimists of South Western Ontario who raise $26,200 annually, Bravery Beads display for each child their progress to victory.
Cost: $25 per rider includes bar-b-cued rib dinner, rain or shine.
