Ontario Motorcycle Rides
TIP - Tailgaters
by Fran McLoughlin
Leave much more braking room in front of your m/c - as well as space for the tailgater to overtake you if he can.
When your line of traffic needs to brake you have to slowly reduce your speed to wake up the tailgating driver behind you before doing a normal brake.
Lots of people seem to drive too close to the car in front as a matter of habit - transfer this to a m/c and you need extra care.
Use your wing mirrors and shoulder check - watch not just the car behind but also the driver - what is he or she doing... - eating, talking on phone, reading mail, cutting his (or her) toenails, you name it.
